This 1929 Franklin came to us with a request to correct the brakes and a few other issues. Once removing the brake drums we found that the wheel cylinders were badly corroded. A quick look into the master cylinder found similar conditions. The wheel cylinders and the master were removed and sent out to be rebuilt with brass liners to help prevent corrosion in the future. As a reminder, brake fluid attracts moisture and should to be flushed and replaces every 3-4 years to prevent corrosion.
Removal of the rear brake drums also showed that the axle seals were leaking. The original felt seals are no longer available. We were able to machine the housing to accept a new modern style rubber lip seal.
